We are delighted to welcome Professor Liang Sun from The Central Academy of Drama (China) for a public lecture on “The Development of Cultural Industry under China’s Theatre Cultural Policies.” Professor Sun’s lecture will reflect on her management practices with the Experimental Theatre Troupe at the Central Academy of Drama and review the cultural policies related to theatre management and production in China. By linking the theatre and performance sector with the broader cultural industries in China, she will explain the roles these policies have played in developing the cultural industries. Her lecture will enhance our understanding of how the world of performance can shape attitudes and policies, fostering a deep respect for the relationship between performing arts organisations and the government.
Professor Liang Sun has won numerous awards as the manager of the theatre troupe and has worked closely with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China to promote theatre cultural policies. Her monographs, including Theatre Management 《剧院团管理》and Marketing Arts and Culture《文化艺术市场营销》, have received significant recognition in the fields of cultural industry studies and theatre management in China. She was also the first to translate Donald C. Farber’s book Producing Theatre: A Comprehensive Legal and Business Guide into Chinese.
With decades of experience at the Central Academy of Drama, Professor Sun brings extensive insights into theatre management, performance industries, and cultural industries as both a scholar and practitioner.
