Play-in-a-Week Holiday Project

Dates:

Mon 01 April – Friday 5th April

Times:         9.00am – 4.30pm Mon – Thur, 9.00am – 1.30pm Fri

Cost:            £75.00 (37.50 for 2nd sibling)

Ages:            11-15yrs

Working with theatre professionals and staff from stage@leeds, participants will come together for five days to devise and create a brand new piece of theatre which will be performed at 12.30pm on the Friday 5th April. No experience is necessary and this project is open to anybody aged 11 – 15yrs.  We will meet each morning at 9.00am, participants will have a lunch break at 12.30pm (a packed lunch should be provided) as well as morning and afternoon breaks. Participants can be collected each day (other than Friday) at 4.30pm from the stage@leeds foyer.

The creation and disposal of waste and our throw away culture are now front page news. The planet is groaning under the weight of the things we discard.

Inspired by the University of Leeds pledge to be single use plastic free by 2023 we will create a piece of theatre that asks the questions:

  • What happens if we don’t change our behaviour?
  • What can we do as individuals to help the planet?
  • Does any of this really matter?

What a Waste will be created and performed using only items (costumes, props, set) already available in the stage@leeds store and participants will work closely with the stage@leeds technical staff to realise their production without creating any… well… waste!

If you have any questions please contact stage@leeds Artistic Director, Steve Ansell (s.ansell@leeds.ac.uk)
