Having been established as a teacher training college in 1949, Bretton Hall maintained an outstanding reputation in teaching excellence through the exploration of creative approaches to arts education and learning, and by engaging with the community via external partnerships.
All are welcome to join us for a day-long celebration and symposium to have discussions, dialogues and provocations about the legacies of Bretton Hall, with a specific focus on theatre and performance. Our panels are going to explore:

  1. Bretton's foundations, values & ethos in training
  2. Innovations in teaching Creative Practices, and critical learning about arts pedagogies, focusing on actor, dancer, design and production and teacher training
  3. How the ‘Bretton ethos’ is visible in the present cultural industries
  4. How we might still learn from practices established at Bretton Hall

Lunch will be provided (please contact stage@leeds.ac.uk directly with any specific dietary requirements or access needs).
