Papye by Sarah Grech
A curious being that has been moulded into life and ready to explore its surroundings. With highs and lows, Papye shares its adventure with us and invites us to follow its journey.
Inspired by puppetry and object theatre, this performance aims to create an empathetic experience for the audience. It is easy to relate to another human being because they are like us. Yet relating to an object becomes somewhat of a mystery. This performance explores the idea of empathy in performance and, more specifically, the different ways in which adult audience members can empathise with objects in performance. Papye is part of the Research Project module for my MA in Performance Design.
