Sleep No More 不眠之夜
Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More originated in London in 2003. It tells Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Macbeth through a darkly cinematic lens, offering an audience experience unlike anything else. Audiences move freely through the epic story, creating their own journeys through a film noir world. Sleep No More ran in a new version in Boston, USA in 2009-10 and has been performed in New York since 2011. The Shanghai version (co-produced by SMG Live) re-imagines the original production but sets it in Shanghai of the 1930s and introduces “new surprises hidden across five storeys of this newly built building in the Jing’An District.”
