4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane

“Embrace beautiful lies- the chronic insanity of the sane.”

4.48 Psychosis was Sarah Kane’s last play and is seen as a theatrical suicide note. 4.48 is a painfully honest yet poetic view of clinical depression and it deals with mental extremes, depression and the notion of dependency and loneliness. The writing is poetic and fragmented which pairs with the physical and dance elements of the piece. It explores the human condition and the psyche of what it really means to be alive.
