Arcadia – LUU Theatre Group

In a large country house in Derbyshire in April 1809 sits Lady Thomasina Coverly, aged 13, and her tutor, Septimus Hodge. In the same room 180 years later, two academics of very different temperaments clash over their attempts to uncover historical ‘scandals’ said to have taken place when Lord Byron stayed at Sidley Park. Truth and time, science and poetry, noise and heat, the classical and the romantic, all fuse together brilliantly in Stoppard’s wickedly funny and poignant masterpiece.
