I am a multi-skilled technician having worked in both rep and receiving theatres before working for the University.
I originally studied Music & Performing Arts, at De Montfort University, Leicester and spent 10 years working as a Lighting and Sound Technician in Theatres around the country including Sheffield Theatres, Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough and The Bloomsbury Theatre, London. In 2003 I studied Music Technology in Manchester and began working for the University of Leeds in 2004 as a Technician firstly at Bretton Hall, and from 2007 at stage@leeds, University of Leeds.
I am a practising Sound Artist and musician (I am a flautist), creating work for many formats including Installation, Radio and Performance. Recent projects have included ‘You have been Watching’ – Sound Designer for Dark Horse Theatre tour (2017) and also ‘it’s a Jungle out there’ at the University of Leeds for Light Night 2019.
I have an MA in Performance Studies from the University of Leeds and am interested in collaboration with artists from other disciplines. Between 2004 and 2016 I collaborated with visual artist Pat Hodson and poet Liz Cashdan on several projects including and artists residency in Iceland in 2009 and an installation in the Liverpool Book Biennial in 2016 on the theme of Shakespeare.
I am a qualified Electrician to 16th Edition and have taken courses in use of Pyrotechnics, and Rigging for performance. For the University I am a Fire Warden and First Aider.
